Up Converting Phosphors are ceramic micro-particles (1-5 microns in particle size) that have a unique interaction with light. There are several types of up-converting security phosphors available. Infrared phosphors which emit a visible light when exposed to an invisible 980nm laser light are the most effective and are available in the following colors:

• Green
• Red
• Blue
• Orange

Other phosphor technologies are available which can only be detected with specific hand held detectors and will emit no visible light. Up-converting phosphers are ideal solution to covert marking needs.

Up converting phosphors can be incorporated within the structure of the Microtaggant which allow the up-converter to be uniquely encoded to each customer or application.
